Intermediate Football Championship
We played Tang in our final group game of the championship last Friday evening in Rosemount. Ballinagore were completely on top in the first half and scored some fine long range points from JJ Hegarty and Stewart Gavin but failed to convert the ample possession into more scores. Tang hung in there and the sides were level at half time 0-3 each, the third Ballinagore score coming from a clearly injured Tommy McDaniel, who was unable to make any further contribution to the game.. A goal from the throw-in of the second half gave Tang the impetus they had lacked in the first half hour, and they drove on from there scoring a further eight points to finish 1-11 to 0-3 winners. Despite the result on the scoreboard, Tang were made to work for each score they got and this was by far the most spirited performance by Ballinagore in this years Championship. The focus is now on Moate and the relegation final in two weeks time where the effort will need to be just as great and the scoring mightily improved if we are to ensure our status for next year.
